M7.4: Local environmental services
The San Jose City
provides a variety of environmental health services. Some that I found
interesting are:
Water Efficiency
program that provide water use rules, water saving tips, water service in San
Jose, how to read water meter at home, fixing water leaks, report water waste,
and education on how saving water can also save energy. I was surprised to
learn that the City has water use rules that remain in effect at all times, regardless
of the current water supply condition.
The City also
provides services in gardening and composting including information about commercial
composting, home composting, nature’s inspiration gardens, pesticide
alternatives, gardening and composting workshops, and water efficient landscape
education classes. It’s interesting to see that the City is offering these
classes and workshops in the effort of encouraging more people to become more
environmentally friendly.
Another service I think
is promising is the San Jose Go Green Schools Program. The program helps foster
environmental stewardship at K-12 schools for kids at an early age. The program
educate the school staff and young students how to recycle properly, how to
choose recycled-content products, how to garden and compost, how to be energy
sufficient, how to conserve and recycled water, etc. This program will help our
next generation to become more environmentally friendly and raise their awareness
of individual responsibilities to help protect the environment.
Hi Nha,
ReplyDeleteI like that the San Jose City have a Water Efficiency Program. I think it will benefit both people and the environment. It is good to have water rules for people to learn the importance of water and water conservation. I also like that the city provide services for gardening and composting. I think it is important to educate and encourage people in protecting the environment. I'm also glad that San Jose have a program for kids. I agree that the Go Green Schools Program will help in raising awareness about the environment and teach kids at a young age to learn how to be responsible and protect the environment.
