M5.7 Blog: Your Sewage Facilities

Within the city of San Jose, the San José-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility is only sewage treatment facility in the area but it is the largest tertiary treatment plant in the western U.S. The facility is located along the shore of the southern San Francisco Bay and it's 22 minutes drive from my house. The facility has also recently started to hold free public tours of the wastewater facility.

    I'm glad to know that the sewage facility in your area is one of the largest treatment plant in the western U.S. Also, the facility tour sounds really interesting. I'm glad they are offering it for free so people can understand how sewage treatment facility works.

    Hi Nha,

    That's surprising that San Jose only has one sewage facility, despite it being a fairly large city. It's also surprising that it one of the largest treatment plants in the western U.S is so close by!
