M4.6 Blog Assignment: Radon
My randon awareness campaign would include these fundamental
elements.
First, education to increase awareness for the community.
Second, directing and show people on how to check for randon
zones on www.epa.gov and how to access resources
available from their state and local randon programs.
Third, people can receive money rebate if they’ve used the
randon test kit and mailed the sample to the lab for testing.
Fourth, provide resources and easy access to mitigation professionals
if the randon level at home is unsafe.
Five, keep track of residential homes that have been tested
for randon and send reminder to re-test for randon level every few year.
Sixth, provide financial assistance to help low-income families
in order to afford hiring an EPA-certified mitigator if needed.
The potential collaborators can include local county
department of public health, available and existing state and local random
programs, Home and Garden Television (HGTV), local TV channels, and local radio
channels.
Hi Nha,
ReplyDeleteThere were three elements that I really like. I like your first element because education is definitely important so people can understand the negative health effects of radon. I like the third element. I think offering people an incentive can encourage them to use the radon test kit. Lastly, I like sixth element because I think it's really important to provide financial assistance especially for low-income families. Overall. I really like the fundamental elements that you listed for your radon awareness campaign.

Hi Nha,
ReplyDeleteYou suggest some great elements in your radon awareness campaign. I think the most important elements you suggested were education and financial assistance for low-income families. I feel that these go hand in hand and would have the most impact on a community as a whole.
Hi Nha,
ReplyDeleteI agree education is very important. I like the idea of sending reminders to homes that may be suspect of needing radon testing. That is very important. People may feel apprehensive about having strangers in their homes doing safety tests for radon so by using local tv and radio channels, they may feel more comfortable knowing that this is a serious threat and that the EPA will send certified mitigators to test their homes.
